651 ARTS’ mission is to develop, produce and present arts and cultural programming grounded in the African Diaspora with a primary focus in contemporary performing arts. Additionally, 651 interrelates and integrates all arts disciplines and the humanities through complementary programs. 651 serves the cultural life of Brooklyn and beyond—locally, regionally, nationally and globally—by informing, nurturing, and connecting artists, audiences, organizations and communities.

651 ARTS is the only Brooklyn-based organization singularly dedicated to providing music, dance, theater and humanities from world-class artists and artistic companies for our community. Through our artist commissioning and development activities and the presentation of public performances and humanities events we provide key support to Black artists from around the world to explore and realize their artistic visions; bring the work of these artists to the attention of local and national audiences; connect their work to the local community in ways that are meaningful to all involved parties; and increase the size and diversity of audiences for these artists.
