Project description: Omar Telan, NY Neo-Futurist, will lead a performance workshop series for a group of local Asian American artists to write, direct and perform a night of short plays based on their everyday experiences as a commentary on the greater Asian American community.

Carpetbag Theatre

Project Title: The Women Gather

Project description: The Carpetbag Theatre will build the touring capacity of local women artists through a series of critical response salons, a learning exchange with touring solo artist Anu Yadav, and a performance showcase presented in conjunction with the 5th Annual "Show What You Know Festival."

St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation

Project Title: Expansion of Tania Isaac Dance Residency
NPN Subsidy:  $5000
Project description: Students from the Durham community will work with Tania Isaac Dance in a four day intensive workshop and master class to prepare a piece to be performed during the NPN residency and presentation of ‘Standpipe."

Tigertail Productions

Project Title: Expansion of Speak Out

Project description: Tigertail seeks to expand and develop a community-wide support structure for SpeakOut, a GLBT Tigertail teen project, by building new artist and community relations prior to Scott Turner Schofield’s NPN Residency.

Walker Art Center
Artist/Collaborator: Faustin Linyekula
Project Title: Festival of Lies
NPN Subsidy: $5000
Project description: Congolese choreographer Faustin Linyekula will be in residence, developing an extended cabaret-style performance installation incorporating local performing artists. The Community Fund will help Walker tap into the immigrant African community of the Twin Cities by involving as many local grassroots organizations as possible in the hosting, planning, and production of the 6-hour dance/theater piece.
