Guidelines and Applications

Creation Fund Program

NPN is now requesting that the Lead NPN Partner/Commissioner submit a Letter Intent as the first step of the application process.  After submitting a Letter of Intent, the NPN Partner/Lead Commissioner must also submit a longer Application.

Historically, the NPN Creation Fund has not been competitive; projects were funded based on a) the feasibility of the project for touring and b) commitment of the Commissioners. In the past year, NPN has seen an increase in Creation Fund Applications.  Although NPN does not want to make the Creation Fund a competitive subsidy, NPN could be in the position of having to make decisions.  If in any one round NPN receives more Applications then funding available, NPN will be forced to prioritize certain projects. NPN will strategically prioritize projects in order to distribute resources most equitably.  NPN is now requesting Letters of Intent in order to help plan for this type of situation.

Factors NPN will consider in the process of making the most equitable decisions include: previous award cycles, date when commissioning matches are available, premiere date of work, diversity of Artist and work (geographic, cultural, artistic discipline), and first time Commissioners.

Winter 2010 Letter of Intent Deadline: January 25, 2010
Winter 2010 Application Deadline: February 15, 2010
For projects not premiering before April 1, 2010 or after March 31, 2013
