Hosted by NPN/VAN Partners Asian Arts Initiative and Painted Bride Art Center in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Annual Meeting Philly will treat you to a variety of familiar and innovative activities that celebrate the city, showcase performance and visual artwork, and stimulate conversation among fellow Partners, artists and colleagues.
AM Philly has adopted “community engagement” as its theme to anchor discussions and workshops throughout the weekend–activities begin on Thursday December 13 and continue through Monday December 17, 2012.
We are honored to kick off Friday’s opening session with a keynote by Theaster Gates, internationally recognized artist and cultural planner. Friday night’s VAN exhibition at Asian Arts will launch into an Arts Crawl that explores the emerging arts venues of Chinatown North. “Live & On Stage” at the Painted Bride on Friday afternoon and Saturday evening feature Creation Fund and Philadelphia-based performing artists. And make sure you plan to stay for Sunday night’s closing dance party!
