The biggest challenge was the small window of time to
plan and implement audience development. An added wrench
was that the Coalition had not been part of the design,
selection or planning for the artists. Therefore, a certain
amount of time was necessary to allow members to become
familiar with the artists and their music and then commit to
audience development. Some members were more tentative in
their participation than others. But those who were
responsive, did so in huge ways. The time frame from
acceptance of audience development to the public
performances was four weeks.
The only limitation to audience development was the very
small number of canvassers, who distributed flyers in the
surrounding community four adults and one young person.
